Dr. Betty Shabazz Delta Academy is a youth enrichment program. Delta Academy, established in 1996, responds to the urgent need to rescue young females (ages 11-14) from academic failure, low self-esteem, and uncertain futures. It serves as a platform for local chapters to supplement the education of teens in public schools nationwide, focusing on enhancing their scholarship in math, science, and technology, while fostering leadership through service learning. The program aims to equip young girls to become effective leaders in the 21st Century. Delta Academy offers Saturday programs regular meetings throughout the school year.
Pontiac Alumnae Chapter Dr. Betty Shabazz Delta Academy program goals include the participants in Delta Academy meet ONE SATURDAY a month from October through June, to participate in activities and community service.
To be selected for and maintain membership in Delta Academy, applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:

Must be entering or attending middle school in the fall in grades 6th, 7th, or 8th.

Must reside in one of the Pontiac Alumnae Chapter’s service areas: Auburn Hills, Bloomfield Hills, Bloomfield Township, Clarkston, Commerce Township, Independence Township, Keego Harbor, Lake Angelus, Lake Orion, Oakland Township, Orchard Lake, Orion Township, Pontiac, Rochester, Rochester Hills, Sylvan Lake, Troy, Walled Lake, Waterford, West Bloomfield, and Wolverine Lake.
